Bromley has always been associated with the blues. In the 1960s, the Bromel Club at the Bromley Court Hotel hosted many American bluesmen, including Sonny Boy Williamson, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Champion Jack Dupree, John Lee Hooker and Bo Diddley, as well as stars such as Jimi Hendrix and Wilson Pickett.
Sonny Boy also appeared in early 1964 at the now demolished White Hart Inn in the town centre.
British disciples of these legends also featured – John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Zoot Money, Long John Baldry and the Animals also appeared on multiple occasions.
Now, the blues is back for 2024. Mississippi MacDonald and The Bourne Music Club are proud to present a new series of blues shows featuring the cream of British and American musicians – the Bromley Blues Club at Bromley Little Theatre.https://bromleybluesclub.com/
Bromley Blues Club is held at Bromley Little Theatre, a beautiful 113 seat venue, converted to its current use in 1938. The venue is air-conditioned, is fully accessible and has a licenced bar.
The theatre can be found on North Street, on the opposite side of the dual carriageway from Bromley North station and tucked in behind The Railway pub. Bromley North has superb rail and bus connections, and Bromley South Station is a 10 minute walk away.
